A trip to the cinema is something that many of us enjoy. Though people may have different tastes in films, many have favourite actors and actresses. Who would you say is the most successful actor of all time?
I've been reading about the Oscars (the Academy Awards) and looking at the list of previous winners to see if there are any candidates that really stand out. It's been interesting to look through the list of names, like stepping through the history of cinema.

Not many actors have won more than one award for their acting ability, so those who have done so are really highlighted as truly great film stars.
Among those who have won an oscar for their acting on two separate occasions are the likes of Tom Hanks (a winner in 1993 for 'Philadelphia' and again the following year for 'Forrest Gump'), Hilary Swank and Denzel Washington. Such modern stars of the movies easily come to find.

Stepping back a bit further in time, Marlon Brando (a winner in 1954 for On The Waterfront and again in 1972 for 'The Godfather') is another who many would hold up as an example of a truly great actor.
Also with 2 Oscar wins are Jodie Foster, Dustin Hoffman, Elizabeth Taylor and Vivien Leigh, to name but a few.

The list of actors and actresses with 3 Oscar wins reveals a very select group indeed. Ingrid Bergman and Jack Nicholson each have that honour, as does Walter Brennan.
Brennan may be a less well known name to more recent cinema audiences, having won the last of his awards in 1940, for his role in 'The Westerner'.

There is one star who stands ahead of all the rest: Katharine Hepburn. Hepburn won 4 Oscars, over a span of some 49 years.
She can certainly lay claim to having been one of the finest actresses of all time, with her awards coming for her roles in 'Morning Glory', 'Guess Who's Coming To Dinner', 'The Lion in Winter' and 'On Golden Pond'.

We may disagree with the decisions of the judges, but there is no doubt that those who have won multiple Oscars include some of the world's greatest all time actors.

Pocahontas / Avatar Trailer crossover

Nobody had made it yet, so I decided somebody should. Lest people think I'm being mean to James Cameron, bear in mind its from his own mouth that his latest science fiction movie is based on the Disney film Pocahontas. This video was an attempt to see how close the parallels run and the result was...pretty darn close. Just some good natured fiun made at the expense of a film I consider taking itself way too seriously. - This is also an attempt to upload a video in HD resolution. Imagine - My Secret World

Imagine: My Secret World is not a typical game. It is more of an interactive diary than a game. You can use it to track your mood and keep notes on day-to-day activities. Doing certain activities will unlock new activities for you to do within the game.

My 10 year old daughter has dozens of diaries. Not that she ever uses any of them other than for scribbling in. Still people keep buying them for her, probably just because they're cheap, and would be good value for money if they were ever used.

The latest diary she has been given is Imagine: My Secret World for the DS. This was a freebie that came with her new DS (after losing the last DS for several months, only for it to turn up two days after we bought her a new one). Maybe the extra interactivity included with this diary will actually encourage her to use it we thought. Well occasionally she has written "hello" on some of its pages, but not much else.

The first thing you notice when starting Imagine: My Secret World is the everything is sideway so you need to turn the DS around. This gives the title more of a physical diary feel and it is a nice touch. It's also nice that you require a passcode to use the diary, so you really can keep secrets on it. You can even put an extra password over a single page or, unusually, even a single word. That lets you show your diary to your friends without them seeing the name of your crush.

Strangely the avatars in the game can be created as male or female, but if it is your personal avatar, it can only be female. I understand that it is aimed at girls but it is as if they want to discourage boys from using it all together.

As we know young people often love customising their stuff. From mobile phone ring tones, to myspace pages, to bedroom walls. This is why customising your diary is one of the main purposes of Imagine: My Secret World. So even if the diary isn't used for writing about your boyfriend troubles, it will probably look nice (nice in the eyes of the person that customised it anyway). It can be customised with colours, design and by placing stickers everywhere and also creating a look for your avatar.

When you use Imagine: My Secret World for the first time you need to fill out your biography. What are your likes dislikes favourite animal and that sort of thing. This information can be shared with friends using the Wi-Fi connection (or by speaking to them if you prefer).

Once you do this you unlock the first quiz. The quiz is actually a personality test which asks probing questions about the likes of borrowing your sister's clothes or if you like to wear make-up. At the end of the test you are given a description of your personality.

Once this is done you can unlock the first mini-game. In this game the player must copy and imagine from one screen to the other by placing stickers in the correct places. It is a poorly thought out and dull challenge but completing it unlocks the next quiz, and the cycle continues until all 4 games have been unlocked.

As an adult male, I see it hard to understand the appeal of Imagine: My Secret World. When I saw how my 10 year old girl enjoyed the title however... I am still of the same opinion, as she gave up on it even quicker than I did. And three weeks later she hasn't used it since.

Russell Brand to Play Jack Sparrow's Brother

Comedic actor and stand-up comedian Russell Brand is set to play Jack Sparrow's brother in the next instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean saga.

The comedian who made headlines recently when telephone messages he and Jonathan Ross left on Andrew Sachs answer phone sparked outrage, prompting him to resign his £200,000 a year job with BBC2, is set to earn £5m as Jonathan, the younger brother of the eccentric Jack Sparrow.

Russell Brand's own eccentricities are thought to stand him in good stead, with his mannerisms closely matching the fantasy pirate Jack Sparrow's, and the deal would launch Brand immediately into Hollywood A-list status.

Brand made his film debut earlier this year in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, where he played Sarah's (Kristen Bell) new rock star boyfriend, who travel together to Hawaii and inadvertently bump into her ex-boyfriend. Brand made headlines when he turned up to the audition not having even read the script, winning out with bravado and charm.

From a rough childhood to heroin addiction, Brand has grown in stature from his early days of presenting Big Brothers Big Mouth, and has seen him host the NME Awards where he famously made a dig about Sir Bob Geldof, calling him Sir Bobby Gandalf, winning PETA's sexiest vegetarian of the year, but this is not without controversy.

Brand has also made headlines for being sacked from MTV for arriving at work dressed as Osama Bin Laden a day after the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York and for referring to George W Bush as that 'retard cowboy fella'.

Love or loathe him, Brand cannot help but command presence, both on stage and screen, and his recent growth of success in the US indicates he is set for big things.
